I should be getting it a week from today and will post my thoughts, but the iPhone is still a great phone here in Israel, but very expensive. Plus there are some really great phones coming out this year. Check out http://www.smartphones.tv to see some great videos of smartphones.

Nachum! I don’t know how much longer I can hold out not buying an Iphone. I have suspended gratification for what seems like an eternity but I don’t want to rush into a stupid decision. Is the jury still not out?

I have an iphone 3g, bought in the USA and unlocked to use here. Everything work here the same as there, all my apps, even google maps with the GPS app which is AMAZING. I have hebrew and english typing/texting, the phone function is the same, its great, loving it.

I have had an unlocked iphone now since Feb 09 ppurchased in Belgium for 750 dollars.
i have the phone jail broken and get everything one could possiblbe want on a pda camera video and music.

It is awesome. I use Att in the USA and switch my chip to Orange when in israel ( 6 months of the year.) have never uograded the software siince it will mess up my jailbreak programm cydia.

But i lovemy toy and will get the next model in the summer of 2010 when it comes out, but wil be smarter and by a pohone in the USA and getit jailbroken and unlocked , will be much cheaper since i have been with att for 10 years wont need a new contract.

Few months ago when I was visiting Israel, I was using my US iPhone with AT&T. I had no problem using Google Maps and Google Earth (although I heard people were complaining that it doesn’t work well in Israel). In addition, since OS 3.1, the iPhone supports Hebrew out of the box, which has a great interface and to switch between the Hebrew Keyboard and the English Keyboard is just a one touch.
I am waiting to find out how much it will cost in Israel. If it will end up being cheaper than the US, I might open an account and get a “Kosher” one; otherwise, I will keep using my AT&T iPhone.
