What is the statute of limitations on calling a product “New”?
Posted by: | CommentsWhat is the statute of limitations on calling a product “new” in Israel? In our last post on this subject about 5 months ago we talked about a package of tissues. This time we are talking about a “bowl of soup” which has become a staple of start-up offices everywhere. Problem is, as you can see in the pic below, they are still marketing this product as Chadash when it has been around in the very same packaging for the last 2-3 years! Come on guys! Change the marketing message. Do you think anyone buys this product because it says it’s new? The only thing that it makes us think is that it must be old!

A 4 pack of Tuna Costs more than 4 single cans – Only in Israel
Posted by: | Comments
Just saw this posted on an email list from Ramat Bet Shemesh
The 4-pack of tuna at Shefa Shuk in RBS is more expensive than buying 4
individuals.
Answer from the head cashier: “Kacha Zeh!”.

Thank you Ephrayim for pointing this out. This is one reason why Costco could never succeed in Israel because they charge you for the conveinence. I remember years ago that someone told me that buying in bulk is more expensive in Israel, but I found it hard to believe. If anyone has any other similar examples please send them in to me to post.
Only in Israel – Finding Mezuzot in a Hardware store
Posted by: | CommentsI thought this was pretty cool. I walked into a hardware store today just to browse a bit and amongst the shelves full of items I saw Mezuzot cases. You don’t see that in hardware stores in America

Please call me back in 5 minutes with your order, my cell phone is ringing
Posted by: | Comments
Imagine you call up a restaurant and you are in the middle of giving your order and the guy taking your order tells you that you should call back in 5 minutes because his cell phone is ringing. Chutzpa you would say? Unbelievable perhaps? Perhaps, but also 100% True. This happened to a very close friend of mine and he was simply flabbergasted.
So he called back in 5 minutes, but the line was busy. It took him 20 minutes before he got a live person on the phone and by that time they told him it would take an hour and a half to get his order.
Only in Israel my friends, only in Israel.
