Finally! An English Speaking Tzimmer Agency in Israel! Check out Getaways.co.il
Posted by: | Comments
Ok, ok, I’ll admit it. Half of my excitement is because I’m the co-founder of this exciting new company, but I’m even more excited because this is a great idea that came from a need!
I have been preaching for years to launch a start-up based on a need or a pain in the market! We simple don’t need another Pizza Shop! But ever since moving to Israel I have always wanted to go to one of those beautiful zimmers I always heard about, but whenever I looked on the websites they were always so cluttered and it was not very clear if they were available and if it was available would I be able to pay by credit card? Was the private pool really private? And there was no agency I could speak to that will give me non-biased answers.
There was also a pain in the market for the millions and millions of Anglo tourists that come to Israel and don’t take advantage of the beautiful zimmerim the land has to offer. Mostly because they don’t know how to book one from the states and there was no anglo speakers ready to help them.
Well with the birth of Getaways.co.il, this pain in the market will finally heal!
Now I want you to visit the site, but please keep in mind that we are just getting started. We try to make it a point to visit every zimmer on our site so that we can really check out the layout and the cleanliness so we can tell you if it really is private, if it’s really within walking distance to a Shul and if the the Zimmer looks as good or better than in the pictures they normally advertise with. We also try to be selective and only list zimmers that we feel Anglo’s would feel comfortable staying in. So with thousands of Zimmers in Israel it will take some time before we can really grow our database, but we will be uploading new properties each month.
If you are looking for something and you don’t see it on our site, then just contact us and we will do the best we can to help you out!
Also sign up for our mailing list for special deals and other coupons!
And if you have a minute, it would be great if you could like us on Facebook as well and help us spread the word! http://www.facebook.com/Getaways.co.il
As always, I look forward to your feedback!
Not enough sufganiot (donut) bakers in Israel is reading Israpreneur
Posted by: | Comments
Last year I wrote a chanukah complaint about the lack of donuts that had some serious cream inside and although there are more and new flavors coming out every year, there is still a lack of what I call the 80/20 donut rule and that is that 80% of the donut should be filling and 20% should be dough.
You can read my thoughts on this from last year here: http://israpreneur.com/i-want-my-custard-doughnut-filled-with-cream/
Now it could be that I didn’t get a chance to check out all the bakeries this year and my dream donut may still be available. If it is, can you please let me know in the comments? Also let me know if you have found the “perfect donut” and where you can get it and why.
To all my readers I want to wish you a Happy Chanukah!

The biggest problem with businesses in Israel is the lack of passion

Passion = Success
Have you ever gone into a store in Israel and the cashier or person running the store is on his/her cellphone? What happens when you walk in? Usually absolutely nothing. And if you have the nerve to ask a question to the worker they give you this look like why are you interuppting them when they are on the phone.
If you want to be successful in anything in life it helps to be passionate. In fact, if you look at those whom are most successful you will see they are very passionate about their business. If you see someone rise to the top in his/her company, chances are they are passionate about their jobs.
If two people are up for a promotion, but only one can get it, who do you think will be chosen with everything being equal except one person is more passionate about the job then the other.
If you are planning a wedding, it helps and make the wedding a success if you are planning it. The same thing about school. Who do you think ends up getting the better grades? Of course the students that are passionate about learning. The same is true in perhaps everything in life. If your passionate about your marriage you will have a better marriage.
That’s why when starting a business the number one thing you should look at is if your passionate about the idea. If you are, the chances of your success just trippled.
Below is an article from Entrepreneur about turning your passion into a business. It is a must read and sure to inspire.

Brilliant marketing? Not a chance! The assumption being made is that the reality for Holocaust survivors is so bad that it is a crime to not let them smoke pot in order to make their lives more livable. There is no doubt in my mind that whoever thought this was a good idea was smoking something…
Raising money is a lot like Shidduchim (match making) AKA: Mazel Tov it’s an investment!
Posted by: | Comments
One of the things any start-up needs to get off the ground and then to grow and survive is money. I was just thinking and this is what I tell the people in my company that raising money is just like shidduchim, you need to put in your popular effort (hishtadlus) and then hope G-D lets you find the right match that is perfect to you. Now just like you may go out with 100 girls or guys until you find the right once, the same thing with raising money. You may have to present your company 100 times before you find the rigth investor or even less times.
Also, just like in the world of Shidduchim there is a shadchan that are professionals or semi-professionals in finding you dates, so to in the investment world are their investment brokers who can help you find the perfect investor.
Now once you have your first date and the investor is interested there will be a second and third date etc… while he does his due dilligence. This is when he will call up people that know you and ask about you as well as current clients or potential clients if you have not yet opened for business.
Now at some point, as the investor gets to know you he will finally make a verbal commitment and then send you what is called a Term-Sheet (if he is a seasoned investor) or you will send him your investment sheet which outlines the term of the investment. Then just like when you get engaged you sign the Tanaim so to here you sign the term sheet and just like when you get married you give or get the Kesubah, so to when you "close" you actually get the signed investment agreement and just like the ring you get/give you will get the cash!
So as you can see dating and raising money are very similar. Bottom line is that G-D already knows who you are going to end up with as a spouse or investor, you just need to keep putting in your best efforts until you find the right one.
The BrainStorm Room ~ A place for Israeli companies to… well…. brainstorm
Posted by: | CommentsHere is an idea that I would love to do, but then again I have tens of ideas I would love to do (and hundreds that I wouldn’t do), but there is no way I could do them all. This one could be a lot of fun and be very profitable.
Every company can benefit from taking it’s employees or executives off site in order to brainstorm properly. Sometimes you just need to get away from the office and put yourself in a relaxing yet stimulating environment.
The idea is to have a location where companies can come and brainstorm ideas.
The space would be filled with Nintendo Wii’s, Marshmellow Guns, candy, interesting fruit drinks, music, toys, games, and anything else that could get your brainwaves going. The walls will be colored in Purple, green, yellow, orange and other such colors. There will be funky furniture and pictures on the walls. Basically a great place to hang out and brainstorm new and creative ideas. Not only would this be a fun business to opperate, but it potentially can be very lucrative.
There are many profit centers. You can rent out the space per\hour and per/person. You can offer catering service for any and all meals or coffee and cake service. You can bring in expert brainstormers to help with the ideas as well as offer entertainers such as jugglers or magicians to help get the juices flowing. I don’t know if there is such a place in Israel yet, but if not then there should be. With thousands of businessnes and non-profits (they also need to brainstorm) as well as government offices, there is tons of potential clients. So if any of you read this post and decide to do it let me know and don’t forget to book my company for one of the first days!
