The simple answer? Be The Best!

That’s really the best way to be resession proof. Just be the best at what you do. I was thinking about this when I was rescently talking to a web designer about a project and he was flooded with work with no end in site.

There was no need for me to ask him how he was doing so well when everyone else I know is struggling. The answer was that he was the best at what he did. Not only is he a remarkable designer, but he is extremely honest and a perfectionist. Everyone rants about how good his work is. Yes he is expensive, but you really do get what you pay for.

So take a look at your business. Are you the best? Is your restaurant the most clean? Are your sales people the most helpful? How is your customer service doing? Are you a purple cow?

If  you are then you will not only survive this recession, but thrive! If not, then it’s time to rethink your business and I wish you bets of luck.

Dear Readers,

Over the past couple of days we have moved this blog over from TypePad to WordPress. We have done this for many reasons, but the most important is to be able to bring you more. More great articles, more writers and more features.

The economic situation in Israel is bleak and we have already started facing many challenges including lay offs by the thousands and companies closing. We are here to help you meet those challenges and to offer advice and inspiration to help you get through this rescession.

Please bear with us over the next couple of days as we continue to clean up this website and add new features and tools.

As always we welcome your thoughts and advice on how we can serve you better.

As readers of this blog know I am both a big fan of Seth Godin and of Mashable. Today Mashable posted a video asking Seth for tips for start-ups in todays down market. You can watch the video below. These tips are great advice for Israel entrepreneurs as well.

I don't know if this quote is true about every man, but it is certainly true about me and most probably about any real entrepreneurs. I really do not know what it means to "relax", to take a break or a vacation. Even when I go out to eat with my wife I check my email at least once every 1/2 hour. I am not saying this as something to be proud of, I wish I could sometimes just relax or enjoy a vacation without thinking about work or business ideas. I can't fall asleep w/o taking Advil PM to help. (It use to be Tylenol PM, but it was bothering my liver). Oh yeah, I guess I should mention that I am ADHD. I have heard that most successful entrepreneurs are. It makes sense to me.

Just saw this on the Bet Shemesh list: Work from home opportunities
I have not checked out these opportunities, but the posting seems legit. If anyone tries any of them out, please let me know!

Dear List:
The Better Business Bureau in America has recommended the following
businesses for those who would like to earn money and work at home.  I
am told that they pay around $10 per hour, and with Skype (skype.com) you can buy an all you want to speak on the phone for $11 per month,
making working from Israel possible and potentially profitable.  I did
not personally check each of these companies and have no further
information, therefore, the below are sources for you to check and inquire.  Hatzlacha Raba.
