pod white 300x283 Business Idea Mini Offices for on your mirpeset or in your GardenOne thing people are always looking for is more room. Currently my home office is a converted machsan built into our apartment, but it is not always the most private and with 5 kids we could probably convert it into a nice guest room. But what to do? So I was surfing the net and I came across these two companies that have a great solution, but they do not operate in Israel. I believe it is a great opportunity for an entrepreneur here in Israel and would probably do very well with it.

Create mini-offices that can sit in your garden or on a large mirpeset (porch). Take a look at these links below and you will see what I mean.

When you do open up this business ( and you may be able to cut a deal with one or both of these companies to ship the product and you can put it together here) please contact me as I may be your first client. Wife permitting of course!

Do you shekel and dime your customers? Do you charge them for every little thing? Do you think your customers appreciate it? What if you did the opposite, give more for less. Show them that you care about their money. Then do you think it would make a difference?

One sushi place I know actually charges you less if you bring them your own tray. Now I don’t know how many people actually bring in their own trays or containers, but the fact that they offer that shows me that they care about my money.

Another take-out place has an item on their menu that if you want to order it for takeout they charge you a higher price because they want to make sure they have it in stock for sit-down customers. If it is such a popular item, why not have more? If I’m calling you as a customer, am I less important because I enjoy your food more at home?

How can you improve your offers? How can you go out of your way to stand-out from the crowd? What if you offered FREE delivery when everyone else charges? What if you through in a free item from your menu in the order or a bag of cookies with a note that said “Thank you for being our customer”? The cookies may cost you a couple of shekels, but the PR and Goodwill is Priceless.

Try it and let us know how it worked for you.

Have you ever started a business because of just a cool business name?
I came up with a great name which is perfect for a business in Jerusalem or the Old City. I came up with the name and have wanted to open up such a business for the last 10 years, but as you know from my previous posts I have decided to share some of my ideas since a) I can't do them all and b) because I wanted people to perhaps take these ideas and be successful in Israel since every new business in Israel is a chance to bring parnosa to more people.

So todays idea is to launch a big, beautiful candy and nosh store! Ok, not so new? Not so exciting? True, but when you hear the name you will understand why.

The name?

The Bais HaBig Nosh

I figured you can open the first Bais HaBig Nosh and then the second and of course the most anticipated 3rd Bais HaBigNosh! Can you imagine the marketing you can do? The T-shirts you can sell?

I went to Israel and visited the Bais HaBigNosh! It will become the must go to junk store in Israel. Again, when I have the time, I will probably open it up. But one of my readers is welcomed to do it before me, just save me a T-shirt!

War in Gaza + Former Gush Katif Residents + JobKatif = creative job solutions
JobKatif is an innovative and inspiring non-profit organization that was created as a way to create and find job for former members of Gush Katif that were expelled from their homes in the Disengagement. There was and unfortunately still is a need to find Jobs for those who needed to start from scratch after their communities were destroyed. With the current war in GAZA and the general situation with the Global economy, there is a need to be innovative. JobKatif is being innovative as seen in this post below:

We collected a nice sum of money to send to JobKatif!  Kol hakavod to
all of you who contributed!  And it was multiplied by 4x by a generous
donor, so JobKatif did even better!  Below read about its latest
wonderful project:

At JobKatif we are conducting business in unusual times. So we are conducting business unusually.

As you know, JobKatif is focused on providing employment solutions for
the former residents of Gush Katif. But who can work when there are
sirens going off every few minutes? Who can work when staff members are
being called up to the army? Who can work when your son, who grew up in
Gush Katif, and knows the terrain was sent to the front lines? And who
can think about getting a job when you are scared for your life and the
life of your neighbors.

So instead of business as ususal, we are going to have fun. Lots and
lots of fun. And we are going to help the people of Gush Katif do what
they do best?. care about the Jewish people. During Operation Cast
Lead, JobKatif has begun Operation Joy and Light. JobKatif has
requisitioned a van which will be taking entertainers to visit small
communities under fire and provide joy and respite to the children.

Both the van driver and the entertainers are from Gush Katif. And many
of them have been helped by JobKatif. So far we have lined up jumping
castles, karaoke, puppet theatre, magicians, balloon games and Jewish
telepathy.

In addition to Operation Joy and Light, which will provide work for
entertainers from Gush Katif and happiness to children from the South -
our counselors are continuing to offer support to families and we are
continuing to help Gush Katif families find alternative housing as
needed.

Visit JobKatif to Donate Today!

Help us bring respite and joy to the people of the South. Remember,
repentance, prayer and charity annul evil decrees. Go out and do a
kindness for another person. If you haven't yet donated to our $4 to $1
matching campaign, please do so now. Please pass this on to your
friends Finally, continue to keep the people of Gush Katif, the people
of the South and all of our valiant soldiers in your prayers.

In friendship,

Judy Lowy

Executive Director, JobKatif

While this idea may not make millions, I love the innovation and the never give up attitude. I strongly suggest that anyone that wants to help out should support this group and give donations. Kol HaKavod!

Making a business out of a fast day? Now thats innovation!
Ok, so most people don't view fast days as a business opportunity, but someone came up with an idea that works. Not I'm not sure if this was created specifically for the Jewish People, but someone realized that there are hundreds of thousands of people that fast a few times every year and what if they came up with a product that can make fasting easier? And so for the last several years there have been a few products that one can take to make your fast easier. They even have hechshers!

What is inspiring is that someone was able to look for a real need and came up with an innovative solution.

Chanukah Innovation Ready to use olive oil candles
This was a great idea. Up until about 7 or 8 years ago if you wanted to light Chanukah candles with olive oil it usually meant a mess and more time to set-up. Today we have the ready to use olive oil candles. Not sure who the entrepreneur who came up with this idea, but it is great!

At saves mess, time, and has the perfect amount of oil to use. Kudos to whomever came up with this innovative idea. He saw a market and an opportunity and changed the way tens of thousands of people light candles every year. I guess he didn't patent it since their are many companies producing them these days.
