jobgetter1 300x239 This guy drove two hours to show up for a job he didnt get... Guess what happenedWhenever someone asks me advise on getting a job or working on his CV, I tell him that he needs to stand out, he needs to be different. You don’t want your CV to be just another one in a big pile. You need to take charge of your destiny, show some guts and do things differently.

Here is a story about a guy who applied for a job, didn’t get it, drove two hours to show up for work anyway and walked away with a job.

Would you do such a thing? What happens if your turned down for a job that you really want? Do you just forget about it or try to standout and show why you feel they made a mistake and should give you another shot?

Any good stories out there? Please share with us in the comments.

Tees at Risk TeesAtRisk Every T Shirt Has a StoryAs a former “Teen At Risk” I always wanted to help other teens that are going through a lot of the frustrations of growing up in this world. Sometimes adults just don’t understand and sometimes things can become extremely difficult for our youth. For years my family and I have been involved with a local school for youth at risk called Tzofiah and it is amazing and inspiring to be involved with such courageous young women.

I have also wanted to something for the larger Teens@Risk market, expanding my skills to help many others. Hence when I came up with the idea for Tees@Risk I knew it was something that had to be launched.

Yet sometimes life and other businesses get in the way of projects that are close to your heart and it wasn’t until I was discussing this idea with a good friend of mine and fellow Entrepreneur, Ben Weiner, that the idea finally started to come together and TeesAtRisk.com has been born.

Ben loved the idea and took the bull by the horns and after many moths of discussions and hard work the site finally launched and I could not be more proud.

The basic idea of the site is that we have T-Shirts that are designed by current or former teens-at-risk and a portion of all sales goes to a non-profit organization that helps youth at risk. We are just getting started and we already have a few beautiful designs and are working with amazing organizations such as the National Runaway Switchboard, NY Youth at Risk, and the Zula Center.Bolt TeesAtRisk Every T Shirt Has a Story

We are also running a contest where you can win a FREE shirt by choosing the MLB comback player of the year. For details follow this link to vote and enter to win a shirt: http://daddyforever.com/2011/03/16/baseball-youths/

We also got a nice write up by the Youth Are Awesome Blog you can read about here.

The feedback so far has been amazing and we are just getting started! So please visit the site, buy a T-Shirt and help us spread the word. And if you know of any talented artists, please have them contact us to submit their designs.

Please “Like Us” on Facebook by visiting our Facebook page at http://facebook.com/teesatrisk and please follow us on Twitter @teesatrisk

Would love to hear your feedback!

If the case wasn’t so serious I would write more about how amazing the video production is and the marketing strategy behind the campaign, but at this time my thoughts and prayers are with Rabbi Shalom Rubashkin and his family.

Passover 300x147 Passover for the Entrepreneur Freedom!

First off I want to apologies to all my readers as I know I have not been posting very often during the last few months. I hope all that will change in the coming months. The thing is I want to post quality articles and that sometimes takes time I don’t have, but I do love sharing my thoughts on building a business with entrepreneurs here in Israel so hopefully I will pick it up.

Freedom means a lot of different things to a lot of different people. The first grade answer to what freedom has to do with Passover is that we were slaves in Egypt and then G-D took us out and we became free. But what does “free” really mean? We were free for a little bit and then G-D gave us a huge amount of laws that we would now have to follow.

Freedom does not mean being free to do whatever you want, freedom means that you are not a slave to your desires or to our ingrown animal instincts. We can raise ourselves above our desires and only then we will be free.

But what does freedom mean to an entrepreneur? Again the first grade answer is that we become so successful that we can do whatever we want. But is that what freedom is all about? As stated above it’s not.

Being a Free entrepreneur means you running your business and not your business running you. Sometimes we get so caught up with our business that everything in our lives are dictated by the next meeting or by the next email or the next project.

But Passover comes to remind us that we should be in control of our business and not our business in control of us. Passover is the perfect time to take a week off, not check your email (so much) and to postpone any meetings until after the Chag. Let us remember what it really means to be free.

Wishing everyone a Chag Samayach!
