As soon as Barack Obama let the world know he was a BlackBerry fan, BlackBerry should have jumped all over it and made a “Presidential” version of it’s product. True they probably would not be able to call it “The ObamaBerry” because of Copright’s and other legals, but they could have, should have put together a “High End” limited edition version. Maybe in Onyx or with special unique features, or perhaps that even links to a speciail Social Networking site only for those that could afford that version.

In anycase President Obama is getting a new PDA, albeit only a $3300.00 version, but someone should jump on this and make a similar model for sale to the public. Watch the video below:

Have you ever started a business because of just a cool business name?
I came up with a great name which is perfect for a business in Jerusalem or the Old City. I came up with the name and have wanted to open up such a business for the last 10 years, but as you know from my previous posts I have decided to share some of my ideas since a) I can't do them all and b) because I wanted people to perhaps take these ideas and be successful in Israel since every new business in Israel is a chance to bring parnosa to more people.

So todays idea is to launch a big, beautiful candy and nosh store! Ok, not so new? Not so exciting? True, but when you hear the name you will understand why.

The name?

The Bais HaBig Nosh

I figured you can open the first Bais HaBig Nosh and then the second and of course the most anticipated 3rd Bais HaBigNosh! Can you imagine the marketing you can do? The T-shirts you can sell?

I went to Israel and visited the Bais HaBigNosh! It will become the must go to junk store in Israel. Again, when I have the time, I will probably open it up. But one of my readers is welcomed to do it before me, just save me a T-shirt!

Business Idea: Open up a Shared Artist Gallery
There is no lack of artists living in Israel and trying to sell their wares, but most of them can not afford to operate their own shop or may not even have the inventory to stock their own gallery. So this is where my idea comes in and again this is something I would love to do if I had the time. I also like this idea because besides creating jobs for a few people directly, you can also help support many of Israel's own artists. And it doesn't have to be just art. Anything that is made by Israelis including jewelry, judaica, clothing etc…

Lets get into more specifics. Someone should rent out a large store space in Jerusalem (or anywhere where a lot of tourists come through) and then you offer small amounts of space to each artist to show there works. This could mean a section of wall to show paintings or shelves in the store that can be rented out per shelf. This has huge benefits for everyone involved.

The Gallery owner can charge 500 NIS per month plus 15% of sales. If he can find 100 artists this can lead to a very nice living for the gallery owner. For the tourist that comes in, he/she can find hundreds of unique products made in Israel and support local artists.

And what does the artist get for his money?

  • Shelf or wall space to show and sell his products in an area visited by a lot of tourists
  • He gets a Jerusalam address and phone number that he can give out to clients and a real person that will collect his mail and answer the phones
  • He gets use of a fax machine
  • Once a year he can have the gallery to use for a complete show of his products
  • His products will show up for sale
  • His products will show up in the galleries website and he can even have his own web page
  • He doesn't have to handle rapping and shipping of products
  • Joins in with tens of other artists for shared marketing expenses of both the gallery and the website

All in all it is a win/win for everyone involved. It could be that some galleries work this way as I am not too familiar with the seen, but I believe there is still room for a 2.0 version that can succeed.

Here is an idea that I would love to do, but then again I have tens of ideas I would love to do (and hundreds that I wouldn’t do), but there is no way I could do them all. This one could be a lot of fun and be very profitable.

Every company can benefit from taking it’s employees or executives off site in order to brainstorm properly. Sometimes you just need to get away from the office and put yourself in a relaxing yet stimulating environment.

The idea is to have a location where companies can come and brainstorm ideas. The BrainStorm Room ~ A place for Israeli companies to... well.... brainstorm
The space would be filled with Nintendo Wii’s, Marshmellow Guns, candy, interesting fruit drinks, music, toys, games, and anything else that could get your brainwaves going. The walls will be colored in Purple, green, yellow, orange and other such colors. There will be funky furniture and pictures on the walls. Basically a great place to hang out and brainstorm new and creative ideas. Not only would this be a fun business to opperate, but it potentially can be very lucrative.

There are many profit centers. You can rent out the space per\hour and per/person. You can offer catering service for any and all meals or coffee and cake service. You can bring in expert brainstormers to help with the ideas as well as offer entertainers such as jugglers or magicians to help get the juices flowing. I don’t know if there is such a place in Israel yet, but if not then there should be. With thousands of businessnes and non-profits (they also need to brainstorm) as well as government offices, there is tons of potential clients. So if any of you read this post and decide to do it let me know and don’t forget to book my company for one of the first days!

I want my custard doughnut filled with cream!
Every sufganiot maker in Israel missed their chance this year to really stick out from the crowd. Sure their were smaller donuts and some cool flavors, but what is the one thing everyone wants that you can never get enough of? The filling! And I'm not talking about the Jelly filling, I'm talking about the vanilla custard filling or the chocolate cream or especially the caramel cream! I want someone to make a doughnut that is 80% filling and only 20% dough! Yes, I will pay more! It beats needing to eat 4 of them to get the desired effect! So start preparing for next year and make the worlds best doughnuts and perhaps make a few shekels in the process as well! I will place my order now!

Matzah already in the size of a Kazayis
After thinking about the Chanukah Oil idea in the previous post I started to think about how cool it would be if they sold matzahs in the size/weight of a kezayis. (Kezayis is a measurement used to determine the minimal one must eat of Matzah or Bread on Shabbos to fulfill the commandment). How many times are you at a Shabbos meal and you are not sure if you ate a kezayis of bread or not. Or what about in the winter and you finish you Shabbos lunch meal at 3:00pm and Shalosh Seudos is at 4:15pm? How about on Pesach night itself when you need to eat a kezayis of Matzah a few times during the Seder? Wouldn't it be great if you can take out a piece of Matzah that is already a kezayis? I would pay a little more for it, but the truth is once the machines are set-up for a specific size and weight you can run as much as you want so it should not increase the cost that much. How about Chalah Rolls in the size/weight of a kezayis? Call them Kezayis Rolls. Just thinking out of the matzah box icon smile Matzah already in the size of a Kazayis

So I was talking to my wife last night about things to do over Chanukah, and we started talking about roller skating as an activity. When I think of Roller Skating I have two main memories. One is the popular" Saturday Night Activity" at Camp Raleigh when we would convert the GYM into a Skating Rink and a big truck would come buy with hundreds of pairs of Roller Skates.

The other memory is going on Sunday's with NCSY as an activity. Always a lot of fun. So why not in Israel?

So I was speaking to a friend after Shul this morning and he said he believes someone tried it on King George Street in Jerusalem a while back and it didn't work out.
Roller Skating Rink in Israel, I believe the time is right!

Now there could literally be hundreds of reasons why a business would fail, but I think having a Roller Rink in the center of the country would do very well.

It is a high-margin business since once the initial investment is made the upkeep is low compared to the income potential. Plus there are multiple streams of income that can come with a roller rink:

  • Birthday Parties/Catering
  • Business Night Out
  • Roller Hockey League
  • Pizza Cafe
  • Video Game machines
  • Rent Out to Schools
  • Rent out for a day to every school in Israel
  • Rent Out Roller Skates
  • Sell New Roller Skates
  • Roller Skate Repairs
  • many more creative ideas!!
  • Renting out Hockey Equipment

I think taking some open land in Modein and building it there would be perfect. It is centrally located and has a large Anglo population. Is only 1/2 hour from Bet Shemesh, and has trains coming in from Tel-Aviv.

On a smaller level someone can invest in 500 pairs of Roller Skates and a good music system and go around to schools and youth programs around the country for some instant fun.

Please comment and let us know what you think? How would you improve on this idea?
