Social Media is probably a lot larger then you think and this monster is still growing. Social Media is not just something that would be a “good idea” for your business, but is quickly becoming essential. This is definitely an area I am paying very close attention to and every project I’m involved in has some sort of social media strategy.

Watch this video below for an idea of where we are and then think where we will be 5 years from now.

getaways medium Finally! An English Speaking Tzimmer Agency in Israel! Check out Getaways.co.ilOk, ok, I’ll admit it. Half of my excitement is because I’m the co-founder of this exciting new company, but I’m even more excited because this is a great idea that came from a need!

I have been preaching for years to launch a start-up based on a need or a pain in the market! We simple don’t need another Pizza Shop! But ever since moving to Israel I have always wanted to go to one of those beautiful zimmers I always heard about, but whenever I looked on the websites they were always so cluttered and it was not very clear if they were available and if it was available would I be able to pay by credit card? Was the private pool really private? And there was no agency I could speak to that will give me non-biased answers.

There was also a pain in the market for the millions and millions of Anglo tourists that come to Israel and don’t take advantage of the beautiful zimmerim the land has to offer. Mostly because they don’t know how to book one from the states and there was no anglo speakers ready to help them.

Well with the birth of Getaways.co.il, this pain in the market will finally heal!

Now I want you to visit the site, but please keep in mind that we are just getting started. We try to make it a point to visit every zimmer on our site so that we can really check out the layout and the cleanliness so we can tell you if it really is private, if it’s really within walking distance to a Shul and if the the Zimmer looks as good or better than in the pictures they normally advertise with. We also try to be selective and only list zimmers that we feel Anglo’s would feel comfortable staying in. So with thousands of Zimmers in Israel it will take some time before we can really grow our database, but we will be uploading new properties each month.

If you are looking for something and you don’t see it on our site, then just contact us and we will do the best we can to help you out!

Also sign up for our mailing list for special deals and other coupons!

And if you have a minute, it would be great if you could like us on Facebook as well and help us spread the word! http://www.facebook.com/Getaways.co.il

As always, I look forward to your feedback!

jobgetter1 300x239 This guy drove two hours to show up for a job he didnt get... Guess what happenedWhenever someone asks me advise on getting a job or working on his CV, I tell him that he needs to stand out, he needs to be different. You don’t want your CV to be just another one in a big pile. You need to take charge of your destiny, show some guts and do things differently.

Here is a story about a guy who applied for a job, didn’t get it, drove two hours to show up for work anyway and walked away with a job.

Would you do such a thing? What happens if your turned down for a job that you really want? Do you just forget about it or try to standout and show why you feel they made a mistake and should give you another shot?

Any good stories out there? Please share with us in the comments.

idea box What do you do when you get an idea? How often do you get a business idea? I get them pretty much everyday and they usually come in one of three ways.

The first way is when I’m reading a business article or blog post about a new company and a spin on the idea or applying it to another niche will come to mind. Usually I will think about them for a few minutes and 90% of the time I will decide for whatever reasons that it is not an idea worth pursuing.

The second way is when I find a need. Usually I will hear about it from someone or I will discover the need on my own. These are more exciting ideas because when there is a real need you can figure out pretty quickly that there may be others that have the same need. And if there are others and the need is not being filled then you have a good potential business idea.

The third way is when the idea just comes to me, could be while I’m trying to sleep or usually on Shabbat when my mind is more at rest. These are usually the big ideas I get and the ones I really get the most excited about, but like in the first two ways I get ideas the majority of them I dismiss with some research.

So what so I do when I get an idea that is worth “keeping”? Since it is virtually impossible for me to develop all of my ideas at one time I keep them in storage. I have a separate Gmail Email account I use just for when I get an idea worth keeping and then I will just write down a few paragraphs and send them to my special “idea” account. This way I can keep track of them and refer to them when I have some time to develop a new idea or for when I find an entrepreneur that is looking to develop something or an investor that wants to invest in a new idea and I will try to match the best idea with the person I’m talking to.

Many times I will also secure the best domain name for the idea I have, that way when I am ready or I find the right person I already have the perfect name secured.

What do you do when you get an idea?

As you may have seen over the years as being an Anglo in Israel, from time to time you will see advertisements with spelling mistakes or errors. Sometimes they make you smile, but most of the time you cringe and wonder why the business/printer didn’t find an Anglo to look it over? I mean if you are targeting Anglos then they must be close by. Just grab one off the street and take 2 minutes of their time to look over an advertisement that you are obviously spending thousands of shekels on. WE DON’T BITE and we are very happy to help!

But today I have seen the absolute worst use of English on an advertisement in my 8 years of living in this country. It comes from a business in Har Nof. I point that out, because I do believe there may be one or two or 20,000 English speakers living there. After looking it over I found not less than 14 mistakes. Now that wouldn’t be so bad if it was a 3000 word advertisement but there is less than 60 words on it. And the mistakes are not just grammar, but really silly spelling mistakes.

Take a look at it below and let me know how many mistakes you find. (Not in this blog post, just in the Ad icon lol Does anyone in Har Nof speak English? )
